As you know, we here at Capay Valley Lavender are committed to revitalizing the land as we plant and grow our crops. When we bought our first parcel seven years ago, revitalizing started with removal of over 600 dead trees, three out buildings, and lots of trash. When the land was clear again, we were filled with a feeling of accomplishment!
This winter, though, we had a definite feeling of déjà vu as we walked along Brick Chimney Creek on our western property line. Something was blocking the flow. Make that somethings. So, we fired up the tractor to pull out the few tires we saw. Easy peasy, right? Well… soon enough we also found three mufflers, two engine blocks, two pairs of boots, a variety of beer bottles - and a chicken coop!
The creek flows freely now, and is a delight to see and hear.
